Agent Working Group Call

#1

Join me for the first Agent Working Group call!

Although I expect that the primary ways Sovrin working groups will communicate will continue to be the forum and slack channels, I thought it would be helpful to also have a scheduled time for conference calls to help us get things kicked off and understand what we mean when we talk about agents as the non-ledger software that enables communication for a Sovrin Identity.

For our first meeting, I have the following agenda items we could potentially discuss:

  • Welcome and housekeeping - Does this call time work? Getting involved - git repositories and resources.
  • [if needed] Review of the introduction to agents with discussion/questions
  • Default communication and authentication in an agent - Sovrin TLS and possibly DID TLS
  • Interfaces or plug-ins - how to discover what an agent can do
  • Pairwise keys and endpoints - validating against the ledger, tracking trust and granting access
  • Use case document - discuss use cases document and WG scope information to provide to the TGB.

Whether you can attend the meeting or not, please join me on Sovrin’s Agent WG channel to propose topics and join the discussion.

Hi @nage and thanks for setting up agent wg calls! I’d love to be part of this group, but Thursday-evenings (living in GMT+2 here) are many times booked for me, because of life with kids & hobbies. Hopefully we can find a way to keep all timezones active in discussion (always a problem in multi-timezone groups). Excited about this moving forward though!

I absolutely want to help everyone stay involved. We’ll try to keep as much as possible on the forums and slack by taking notes during meetings and sharing any items we discuss in electronic forms (these calls should just accelerate conversations that are already occurring online, and not replace them). Also, please jump into the conversations that are already starting on the slack channel so that your voice is heard in terms of what you’re hoping to see happen and how you think you can participate.

Nathan, great job with the kickoff of the Agent WG. My only feedback is that the agenda is very ambitious for a one-hour call. That said, every item on it is important, so I look forward to getting as far through it as we can.

Also, a huge +1 to making sure all key discussions are taking place here or on the Sovrin Agent WG Slack channel to ensure that everyone can take part regardless of whether they can make the scheduled calls.

Looking forward to this Nathan.

I hope to be there - i will be in the northern thai forests that night, but I have heard that there is a mild cell-signal from our location and i will join the meeting if I can find microwaves to ride.

I am interested in Sovrin TLS…

  • what does Sovrin TLS mean, how it works?
  • What happened to RAET?
  • What about QUIC?
  • how can we handle individual, pairwise TLS negotiation from Sovrin @scale (e.g. CDN style)?
  • how would Sovrin and DID TLS differ?
  • once packet-exchange is enabled, what do we use for conversation? (messaging, HTTP query/response, etc.)

I am also interested in understanding the “Scope” of an Agent.
I see two pressures - one direction is the “my DID has one agent to do ALL”, and the other is “my DID has many Agents who are adept at different things” - where the last probably has to have a constraint of “and no two agent’s do one thing” perhaps enforced in the DDO’s ‘service_endpoint’ keyset.

Agent’s make use of the Sovrin Client (e.g. ledger interaction)
I’d like to clarify this use of terms - and specifically that agents act as a bridge connecting three things

  1. back end services known to the agency
  2. ledger backed identity transactions
  3. at east one service endpoint listed in some DID’s DDO

Just a brief reminder that our next regularly scheduled Agent WG call is this Thursday 9:00 AM MST

Here are a couple of items that have been proposed so far:

  • Agent-to-agent communications (RAET, CurveCP & SovrinTLS)
  • Sovrin Git repositories
  • Brief code overview

Please chime in on #agent on Slack or add a comment here to propose a topic you’d like to cover (or +1 an existing topic).

Next time on 18. May is already the last planned Agent WG Call. Will it continue afterwards in this same 2 weeks intervall, or will you change times?

#9

The call information is staying the same and the call has been extended appropriately. The meeting will continue to occur at this time every other week.

#10

Is it possible to get an updated ICS for this call so it can be imported into our calendars?

#11

For now we will continue to keep the appointments up to date on the following pubic Google Calendar:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/sovrin.org_3r7hkuuo6gsjn2cptcdcgnlok0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

In the future, these working group events will likely also show up on the equivalent community calendar at Hyperledger:
