How Hyperledger Indy differs from Hyperledger Iroha?

#1

I read that Iroha also does the same operation like digital identity management as what Indy does. Only difference is They are handled by Soramitsu and Indy by Sovrin.

Is there any major difference between them? What makes Indy standalone?

I am not qualified to compare/contrast with Iroha. I can only answer the last part of your question, “What makes Indy standalone?”

Indy does not depend on any other blockchain or supporting ecosystem; you can run an Indy network with nothing more than the indy-node install packages. Of course, those packages depend on crypto libraries such as libsodium and openssl, but they do not depend on any other Hyperledger project; nor do they depend on Ethereum, Bitcoin, or anything of a similar nature.

Sovrin depends on Indy, since it is an instance of the Indy codebase running in the context of a particular trust framework.

Did that help to answer your question? If not, could you reword?
